Last night just before 8 Viny and I took a flashlight and walked over to Marcias, who also had a flashlight, and we walked up the road a ways to the house of Celma and Justa, two Argentinians ladies, to have supper. About a year ago an Argentinian couple and their two boys had to leave their house in Tepoztlan to return to Mexico City, and they could not take their two dogs and three puppies, and those are the ones I kept in the spa for almost a week, until Celm and Justa decided to keep them, or at least the parents and one puppy. The original owners decided to take one puppy with them. Last night the couple and their two boys and their dog, Torito, were all there. Torito was glad to see his parents and sibling. The other puppy was given elsewhere. There were cooking a LOT of beef outside, and some chicken. The family lives in La Condesa, in Mexico City, and they bought the beef at some Argentinian style butcher. They also brought pannetone, a bread from Milan, but as they say, there is a lot of Italian influence in Argentinia, so it is popular there also. They also bought the pannetone from La Condesa. It was a wonderful supper. When the young family first took the puppy to their house, the wife said the puppy had to stay outside, which it did for the first week. Now Torito stays inside, on all the furniture, but sleeps in his own bed. Even Celma and Justa allowed him in their house and on their couch, although their dogs stay outside. They gave me and Viny a CD of Argentinian tangos, and Marcia a book. We got home about 1130.
This morning Inés came and made the tinga de pollo for the spa for this weekend. This evening at 10 she leaves by bus with the group of 15 for Chiapas, and her son is going after all, I am glad for that. She will be back here next Saturday, she says.
This morning I have been making guacamole with mango, mushroom soup, chicken rolls filled with dried cranberries and pecans, and wrapped in hojas santas, which I will put on a bed of pureed potatoes to serve. I also made a beautiful little coeur a la creme, with blackberries on top. I will try to put some photos of some of this on here later.
One of our customers, James, showed up this morning to spend the night in the upstairs apartment, with his three little dogs. He will also have lunch with us.
After lunch Viny and I will go into town to get out fruits and veggies for this weekend.
I talked with Saundra and Bob this morning, they have about 8 inches of snow in Owasso. I talked with Ben, who is in Rogers, Arkansas, they have some snow. And I just talked with Sherrie, in Rio Rancho, they do not have snow. I talked with Alberto also, he was able to get his car this morning and they plan to go to his aunts house tonight for the Christmas dinner they were supposed to have last night. Apparently Maricela and her family and Luis and his family are all coming in the same vehicle to Cuernavaca, leaving tomorrow morning arriving Sunday.
Alberto sent his photo of a cute little snowman that his nephews Israel and Abraham made this morning in front of their house in Oklahoma City.
This is the coeur a la creme we had for lunch today. It was quite good. Everything was quite good. James, Marcia, Viny and I had a very nice lunch, with the mushroom soup, guacamole with mango, the chicken rolls filled with cranberries and pecans, on a bed of mashed potatoes, and then the dessert. We had iced tea and sparkling wine, and bread from El Brujo with butter mixed with blackberries.
Raulyn is now here, downstairs eating leftovers. He is off work until the 11th of January. Alberto is going to his aunts house in a few minutes for a late Christmas dinner.
Viny and I went into town late this afternoon to get our fruit and veggies for the spa for the weekend.
I was facing into the setting sun, I guess this is why this photo is so dark, but our wonderful little town was just bustling this afternoon, a lot of people, including a lot of foreigners, always good for the economy.
